Behind this online utilities website, there is a simple idea: to be genuinely useful with small, practical tools that anyone might need from one day to the next.
I was personally looking for a very simple sketch pad, like the ones you could find in the early days of tablets, when devices like the iPad offered clean, no-nonsense apps focused on a clear interface and just a few essential instruments. Unfortunately, today you mostly find subscription-based apps, or tools that are overly complex and filled with unnecessary features. So I decided to build my own online sketch pad — the very first tool to appear on Toolpile.net.
From there, many others followed. It makes me happy to see visitors returning regularly to the site, and spending many minutes using the tools hosted here.
The internet has changed a lot in a short time, and it will continue to evolve at a pace that is difficult to follow. Toolpile.net is built entirely with original tools developed by the author. The tools are not open source mainly because I do not have enough time to maintain projects and manage a community. I am always keen to listen to feedback and to improve the tools, but the responsibility of running open-source projects is, for now, more than I can take on. My hope is simply to be of some use.

When choosing a name for this site, I picked something that sounded a bit like that, as a small tribute to the warm feelings of the good old web.
